What you need:

  • sheets of kitchen towels/paper towels
  • dark/black permanent markers
  • colourful felt tip pens
  • flat container of water

What you do:

1. Fold paper towel and draw something using the permanent marker on one side of the folded paper towel like this. 
2. It’s good to start with a simple image like this one.
3. Make sure that you press down so that the outline is slightly visible on the layer of paper tower below.
4. Add colour to the paper towel layer below using the outline as a guide.
5. This is what it should look like when you have finished it.
6. Fold the kitchen towel so that the top sheet with the black outline is on top.
7. Drop the kitchen towel into the container of water. You will see the picture ‘magically’ become colourful!
